There are many complaints about microfibre cloths in the automotive industry due to scratching paintwork. These are because of cheap manufacturing. The factory uses a hot wire system to cut their towels. If not properly adjusted, or if a cheap machine is used, the hot wire will melt the fabric. When polyester and nylon melt, they turn into hard plastic. This is obviously not good for the paintwork of your vehicle.
Excessive lint: The second complaint is that the cloth creates excessive lint. Some microfibre cloths shed because the cloth has a high pile or a loose weave, which allows the fibers to break off, creating lint.
Absorbancy: The absorbency depends on the construction of the fibre, the best fibre is a split fibre which is constructed of polyester and polyamide. The construction is very important, including the towel density and the materials used to make the fibre eg: 100% polyester is not good for absorbancy and not recomended for automotive cleaning and valeting.
The best combination is polyester and polyamide, which is what our cloths are constructed from. The polyamide is used as the core of the hybrid fibre and the polyester is the outer skin. The fibres are split giving the cloth better absorbancy, and have a short pile, meaning low lint.
